Christ became everything that I am and then went and died on the cross so that I can become everything that He is. And that's my goal, to become everything that Jesus is. I know I fall short of that each and everyday, but sometimes I think I'm making progress. That's what being a Christian is all about. We're not perfect. We're not sinless. We're just forgiven. And we try to purge our life of sin so that we can live holy, just as our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is holy.
So, there's not really much I can say about myself. If you want to know me, then get to know Jesus. That's who I'm striving to be like. The Spirit of God is helping me to change everyday to be more like Jesus. Who I am now is not who I'm going to be tomorrow. I'm being changed from glory to glory, as the Bible says in II Corinthians 3:18.
I'm trying harder, more and more each and everyday to live my life for Him. Right now in my life, nothing matters more to me than my relationship with Jesus Christ.
It's all about relationship, not religion!! You might say, "Ok, Eric, I've heard that one before....what does that mean?
What that means is that no matter how many mistakes you make, no matter how many times you screw up, no matter how many times you fail, you can always go to Jesus and know that he'll be there.
You can talk to Him whenever you want, and He'll talk to you right back. He's near you, always. He never leaves you, nor would He. He's not a billion miles away in some far off part of space watching you through a telescope, but He's right there beside of you, walking with you and waiting for you to talk to Him. You matter to him. He cares about you and He loves you more than you know. He knows you, and He knows all about you. He knows what makes you laugh, and what things you like to smell. He knows what the deepest desires of your heart is, and He wants to see you happy. But He also wants you to know Him like He knows you. He wants to tell you things, and show you things, real things, that He likes and that He loves. He wants you to know what makes Him laugh, and what makes Him cry. He wants to tell you how much He loves you and why He died for you.
That's what communion is all about. It's about relationship. You can commune with the King of King and Lord of Lords!! All you have to do is talk to Him and establish a relationship with Him. Here's how. Just repeat this out loud:
Say, "Jesus, I want to have a relationship with you. I know that you died on the cross for my sins, then you rose from the dead and went to Heaven. You sent Your Holy Spirit to dwell inside of me. I want to have a relationship with you. I ask you, Jesus, to forgive me of my sins and for Your Holy Spirit to come and dwell inside of me and help me to clean up my life and change it. I can't do it all on my own anymore, and I need You in my life to help me and to show me how to do those things that I can't. I thank You, Jesus, and I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Now I live my life for You, Lord. Amen!!"
